Mushy Pea Linguine

Make sure the bacon is smoked.

  • 250g of Ricotta - £1.20

  • 1 Lemon - £0.35

  • 1 Bunch of Mint - £0.70

  • 330g of Smoked Bacon - £1.50

  • 800g of Petit Pois - £1.60

  • 500g of Linguine - £0.56

  • Total Cost - £5.91. This covers absolutely everything. All we assume you have in your kitchen beforehand is SALT, PEPPER AND OLIVE OIL.


  1. Cut bacon into small bits and chuck into a pan. Fry until crispy. Get the linguine on.

  2. Rest a colander over the pan and add the peas.

  3. After 5 minutes, the peas should be ready. Remove from the heat and put in a bowl. Add 220g of ricotta, a handful of chopped mint and the juice of a lemon. Season with salt and pepper, a drizzle of olive oil and mash.

  4. Take half of the peas and blend with 3 ladles of pasta water.

  5. Drain pasta. Pour pasta into the bacon pan. Add the blended mushy peas and the rest of the mushy peas.

  6. Dollop ricotta over the top and squeeze over some lemon juice. Enjoy!
